Context
Chi Funk was an emerging creative brand with strong cultural presence but lacked structural clarity in its messaging, positioning, and long-term growth strategy.

The Intercept
Applying a systems-thinking approach, I identified critical misalignments between brand identity, audience perception, and execution. By intercepting these patterns early, we prevented compounding inefficiencies and redirected momentum.

Context

Child support proceedings are often experienced as chaotic, emotional, and opaque—especially for self-represented individuals.  PRAG was developed to intercept that chaos by transforming complex procedural environments into structured, understandable systems—enabling clarity, preparation, and informed participation.

THE SITUATION

Self-represented litigants entering child support proceedings often face a critical disadvantage:

They are navigating highly structured legal systems without understanding the underlying structure.

Confusion arises around income classification, documentation requirements, judicial evaluation, and procedural sequencing. This lack of clarity leads to disorganization, misinterpretation, and reduced effectiveness in court.  The system itself is not random—but without a framework, it appears that way.

THE INTERCEPT

The intervention focused on a key realization:

The challenge is not lack of intelligence—it is lack of structure.  By analyzing how courts evaluate income, documentation, and procedural flow, we intercepted the perception of chaos and reframed the process as a system governed by identifiable patterns.  Rather than attempting to provide legal advice, PRAG was designed to deliver procedural clarity through structured education.

 

WHAT WAS DONE

  • Income Classification Framework

  • Developed a structured model outlining how courts categorize and evaluate income sources, including wages, benefits, self-employment, and variable earnings.

  • Documentation Systems Design

  • Created clear frameworks for organizing financial records, including chronological structuring, income summaries, and exhibit preparation.

  • Judicial Evaluation Modeling

  • Mapped how courts assess financial information—emphasizing pattern recognition, sustainability of income, and reliance on verifiable documentation.

  • Procedural Flow Structuring

  • Outlined the sequence of support proceedings, from filing through judicial determination, reducing ambiguity around process expectations.

  • Cognitive Clarity Design

  • Translated complex legal concepts into accessible, structured educational material designed for real-world application by non-attorneys.

IMPACT

PRAG transformed the user’s relationship to the legal system—from reactive to informed.  Complex procedures became structured frameworks.  Uncertainty was replaced with clarity.  Preparation shifted from guesswork to system-based execution.  The result is not control over outcomes—but control over preparation, clarity, and participation.

 

REFLECTION

Systems do not become complex—they are perceived as complex when their structure is unseen.  By making structure visible, we reduce cognitive load and increase effectiveness.  PRAG demonstrates that even highly regulated environments can be navigated with clarity—when approached through systems thinking and disciplined organization.

The streetwear market is saturated.

Brands often rely on:

  • Recycled aesthetics

  • Trend-driven drops

  • Surface-level identity

At the regional level, this problem is amplified:

  • Cultural identity is underdeveloped

  • Narrative is fragmented

  • Expression lacks philosophical depth

Fleaux State was created to challenge this pattern.

The Problem

How do you build a brand that doesn’t just participate in culture—but actively redefines it?

Key tensions:

  • Authenticity vs commercialization

  • Identity vs trend adoption

  • Expression vs repetition

Most brands respond by adapting to trends.
Fleaux State chose a different approach.

The Intercept

This project applied the Intercept Method to brand creation.

Instead of entering the market as another participant, the goal was to:

Step into the cultural pattern mid-motion and redirect its trajectory.

The System (Reinforcement)

To sustain the redirection, Fleaux State was built as a system:

Language System

  • “LIVE IN THE FLEAUX”

  • “MONROE MADE”

  • “RIVER RAISED”

Visual System

  • Flowing script typography (movement-based)

  • Minimal but expressive compositions

  • Flexible, non-vintage silhouettes

Release System

  • Capsule “chapters” tied to:

    • River

    • Mud

    • Wind

    • Roots

 Each piece reinforces the identity—not just sells product

 

 Impact

  • Established a distinct regional identity framework

  • Shifted brand from product-driven → narrative-driven

  • Created a scalable system for future drops

  • Positioned Fleaux State as a cultural expression platform, not just apparel

 

Strategic Insight

Most brands try to stand out by being different.

Fleaux State stands out by being coherent.

It does not chase attention.
It builds meaning.
